Job Description:
SUMMARY:
We are seeking a compassionate Wound Nurse to join our team! As a Wound Nurse, you will play a key role in providing primary skin care to our residents, with the guidance of the attending physician, Director of Nursing, or Medical Director. Your focus will be on the treatment and management of skin conditions, helping to improve the well-being and comfort of our residents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with the Director of Nursing and other licensed nurses to address dermatologic concerns of residents.
Conduct thorough assessments, review residents’ records, and identify when further physician evaluation is needed.
Perform skin assessments using techniques such as observation, inspection, and palpation to accurately diagnose and treat skin conditions.
Initiate referrals and consultations as necessary, responding to requests from residents, physicians, or the nursing team.
Treat and manage a variety of skin conditions such as abrasions, foot problems, pressure ulcers, infections, and benign skin lesions.
Support residents in their rehabilitation, assisting with range of motion exercises, ambulation, and providing emotional support.
Offer preventative care recommendations regarding nutrition and skin health to minimize the risk of common skin disorders.
Provide written and verbal updates to physicians, the Medical Director, and the Director of Nursing regarding residents’ skin care and treatment plans.
Follow and help implement established skin care policies and procedures, sharing key information with residents and families as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To be successful in this role, you must be able to perform the essential duties outlined above. The following qualifications are required:
LPN/RN with current, unencumbered state licensure.
Wound Certification from an accredited institution preferred.
Current CPR certification.
At least two (2) years of experience as an LPN/RN.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This role requires physical ability to meet the demands of patient care, including:
Ability to move throughout the facility during the workday.
Proficiency in speaking and writing in English.
Ability to manage the mental and emotional demands of the job.
Ability to lift, push, pull, or move a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and carry this weight for at least 50 feet.
