Job Summary:

The Level II Sign Fabricator is responsible for our Bread & Butter fabrication, which includes cabinets, pans and post and panels signage with an emphasis of speed over quality. They are also required to assemble and fabricate custom signs using various materials and techniques. This role requires welding, and electrical wiring for illuminated signs, and overall sign manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in sign fabrication, the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Fabrication & Assembly:

  • Manufacturing and assembling various types of signs, including channel letters, monument signs, pylons, wayfinding, and illuminated signage.
  • Operate routers, saws, brakes, and other fabrication machinery.
  • Perform metal and plastic fabrication, including cutting, bending, and welding.
  • Assemble and install LED lighting systems and other electrical components.
  • Layout and coordinate plan of procedures.
  • Construct templates and jigs for accurate fabrication techniques.

Technical & Quality Control:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to ensure accurate fabrication.
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve fabrication issues efficiently.
  • Ensure proper finishing, including painting, laminating, and vinyl application.

Equipment & Safety:

  • Maintain and operate fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
  • Follow OSHA and company safety guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Perform routine maintenance on tools and machines to ensure optimal performance.

Collaboration & Training:

  • Work closely with designers, project managers, and installers to complete projects on time.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior fabricators as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth workflow and project completion.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 2 years of experience in sign fabrication or a related field.
  • Experience in metalworking, welding (MIG/TIG), and electrical wiring.
  • Knowledge of materials such as aluminum, mild steel, stainless, and other precious metals. Working knowledge of composite material, wood, acrylic, polycarbonate, and vinyl.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with UL certification standards for illuminated signs.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work in a physically demanding environment.

Preferred Certifications (if applicable):

  • OSHA 10 or 30 Certification
  • UL Certification for Electrical Sign Fabrication
  • Forklift or Aerial Lift Certification

Work Environment:

  • Combination of shop and fieldwork, including occasional outdoor installations.
  • May involve lifting up to 50 lbs., standing for extended periods, and working at heights.
