Summary

The position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of Inspector General (OIG). The incumbent serves as a Criminal Investigator/Senior Special Agent who carries firearms in the performance of official duties. The incumbent, pursuant to 2 U.S.C.

  • 1808(d)(2), is selected, appointed and employed by the Inspector General and reports directly to the Assistant Inspector General for Investigations (AIGI). Top Secret clearance and a valid driver’s license is required.

You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. You must meet all eligibility and qualifications requirements by the closing date of the job announcement. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Candidates for the GS-14 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes having experience in the following: (experience must be reflected in resume) (1) Applying knowledge of the laws, regulations, policies, procedures, theories, concepts and principles of criminal, civil and administrative investigations; (2) Taking and recording sworn affidavits and testimony to preserve oral evidence for court proceedings, or for use in management disciplinary hearings; (3) Using advanced analytical tools and techniques, evaluates raw intelligence to make links and connections between and among participants involved in crime or major misconduct; and (4) Developing and executing complex investigations and operations which encompass difficult and diverse functions or issues that affect critical aspects of major agency-wide programs. Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.
