What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Lead position at Architectural Arts?
Assist with coordinating the transportation, storage, packaging, loading and distribution activities for finished products and materials.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Lead and direct the daily work activities of the Shipping Department and Drivers.
Essential Functions
- Follow shipping schedule for finished products and materials.
- Assign drivers’ their shipping schedules.
- Ensure drivers follow all safety rules.
- Ensure drivers maintain appropriate licensing, credentials, and acceptable driving record.
- Certify vehicles are in safe operating condition and receive the proper maintenance.
- Coordinate and assist with the loading of products and materials into the delivery vehicles.
- Negotiate costs and arrange freight shipments.
- Report any questionable conditions to the Shop Foreman or Production Manager.
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly and safely.
- Follow all prescribed safety regulations.

- Capable computer skills to produce and print delivery tickets
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum one year shipping and material handling experience
- Previous woodworking or related experience a plus
Physical Requirements
- Regularly require the ability to sit, stand, bend, twist, lift, reach, kneel, push, pull and lift up to 100 pounds.
