Description
The fabrication manager monitors production output, supervises staff, and ensures that products meet customer specifications and quality expectations. Responsibilities include the efficiency of operations and scheduling production. They ensure the shop stays on schedule and within budget. A fabrication manager should understand and enforce safety, quality control, and production expectations. Other duties involve developing or improving the training program and overseeing day-to-day operations.
1. Planning & Execution of the Shop
1.1. Direct supervision of a crew of 5 shop employees
1.2. Responsible and accountable for shop organization, cleanliness, quality, and safety environment.
1.3. Thinks LEAN : Constantly seeking ways to improve efficiency, quality, and cost control where applicable.
1.4. Maintain a clean and organized manufacturing facility
1.5. Supervise manufacturing activities to achieve optimum productivity and accuracy. Be not afraid to jump in and work to ensure the job gets done.
1.6. Lead, train, develop, and mentor all departmental assigned team members
1.7. Maintain discipline to procedures, in accordance with safety, quality, engineering, human resources, and finance department guidelines.
1.8. Overseeing the preventative maintenance of all operating equipment
1.9. Daily space planning for the shop
1.10.Daily / weekly labor planning
1.11.Assigning work duties and monitoring those work duties to maintain schedules
1.12. Actively promotes and adheres to company safety policies and goals of ZERO accidents, ZERO Injuries
1.13.Maintains and monitors tool inventory and inventory checklists.
1.14.Fabricating per Glazier Studio and Partner Pak files in coordination with shop drawings and operations checks and procedures.
1.15.Efficiency improvement proposals / data produced
Requirements
2.1 Experience working in Glass and Glazing fabrication.
2.2 Proficiency in reading and following blueprints, shop drawings and fabrication drawings.
2.3 Must be familiar with standard construction concepts, practices, and procedures.
2.4 Experience with scheduling crews and job timelines.
2.5 Experience with glass and aluminum quality control requirements.
2.6 Great people skills, delegating to coworkers, communicating with company managers, customers
2.7 Good written and verbal communication skills.
2.8 Basic Computer Skills including but not limited to : Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook Email, Data entry, Calendars, Video Conferencing, SharePoint, and file management in the cloud or on the server.
2.9 Education : High School diploma or equivalent.
2.10 Must have reliable transportation.
2.11 Personal Traits : maturity, good communication skills, attention to detail, initiative, good planning and organization skills.
