Job Description
Job Title: Driver
Classification: Hourly Non-Exempt
Reports To: Purchasing Manager
Summary/Objective:
The Driver is responsible for loading, transporting and unloading construction materials undamaged to multiple job sites timely and accurately.
Essential Functions:
Adhere to daily delivery route schedule to deliver quality construction materials accurately and timely following applicable OSHA and AWI safety standards.
Complete and submit monthly Driver Inspection Report via AWI website accurately and timely.
Delivery and collect tools and equipment to and from project sites.
Notify the Warehouse Manager of the delivery and collection of tools and equipment from project sites.
Maintain vehicle, material handling equipment and tools in a clean and proper working condition per OSHA standards.
Competency: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Resolving worksite conflicts professionally.
Adaptability due to daily changes to delivery routes, schedule, materials and tools.
Interpret and follow daily delivery route provided by Purchasing Manager
Identify construction materials and tools to ensure accurate loading and unloading to applicable project sites.
Apply basic math to ensure accurate delivery of material quantities to applicable project sites.
Inspect and identify flaws and/or damages to construction materials prior to loading and during unloading.
Know and follow OSHA standards when performing essential functions of position.
Know and follow all laws and rules for operating a motor vehicle in the State of Indiana.
Maintain and submit forms and documents timely, accurately and legibly.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Work Environment:
Works primarily in a climate-controlled vehicle.
Frequently required to work inside and outside in a variety of weather conditions when unloading construction materials and tools at a project site.
Work from elevations as high as sixty (60) feet above ground level
Noise Level is variable with required hearing protection available per worksite or at the request of the Driver.
Physical Demands:
Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. without assistance frequently.
Pushing and pulling up to 50 lbs.
Reaching out and up and down
Frequent standing, bending, squatting and kneeling.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
Position Type Full-Time
Work Week Monday – Friday
Work Hours 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Hours may vary based on customer requirements.
Overtime Discretionary based on project deadlines and following 40 hours worked in a pay period Monday - Sunday.
Travel 80% travel required in Central Indiana daily.
Required Education and Experience:
Authorized to work in the United States of America via E-Verify.
Possess and maintains a valid Indiana driver’s license for the duration of employment.
Complete a pre-employment drug screen with negative results.
Complete a criminal background check with no felonies in the past 7 years involving violent crimes, sexual misconduct, nor crimes against children.
Maintaining a criminal background with no felonies involving violent crimes, sexual misconduct, nor crimes against children for the duration of employment.
Obtain and maintain qualifications to perform work at all customer project sites for duration of employment.
Complete and pass AWI Safety Orientation Quiz on hire date.
Achieve and maintain material handling equipment operator certifications for the duration of employment.
