SUMMARY
Control the movement of vehicular traffic through telecommunication construction and maintenance work zones. Provides a safe work area for Outside Plant personnel, while facilitating the safe and orderly flow of traffic for all road users (motorist, bicyclists and pedestrians). Keeps/maintains company facilities as assigned in clean and orderly condition. Provide support to OSP personnel as directed by Management. Strong adherence to Company best practices and procedures by performing the essential duties and responsibilities listed below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Practices basic principles of traffic control such as: spacing, tapers and being visible to drivers.
· Manage day-to-day work zone set up, maintenance and tear down.
· Discusses traffic routing plans, type and location for set up of control points with supervisor/jobsite lead.
· Distributes traffic control signs and markers along site in designated pattern.
· Directs movement of traffic through work zone using sign, hand and flag signals.
· Warns construction workers when approaching vehicle fails to heed signals to prevent accident and injury to workers.
· Inform drivers of detour routes through construction work zones.
· Record license number of traffic control violators for police.
· Keep company assigned flagging vehicle and equipment well organized and in working order.
· Perform simple maintenance and repairs/organize/clean OSP garages, grounds and cable yard daily.
· Maintain Outside Plant Modules (OPM’s), including snow removal, apply salt and weed
whacking/trimming.
· Inspect/maintain and test monthly the company portable generators that support OPM’s during
power outages.
· Perform property and worksite restoration to pre-work site condition.
· Pickup, transport and deliver items as needed (equipment, tools, supplies, materials, etc.) at both onsite and offsite facilities.
· Support Management in preventive maintenance of equipment and tools with general maintenance, cleaning and simple repairs.
· Support Management to maintain ANSI inspection for aerial units and ladder inspection data.
· Maintain a consistent and unrelenting focus on safety throughout all job functions.
· On occasion may assist Management/Vendors with general cleaning, maintenance, and repairs of facilities.
· On occasion may assist Management/Vendors with sidewalk and parking lot snow removal and salting.
· Set up and take down tables, chairs and equipment for events and activities.
· On Occasion may assist Management/Vendors with office space set-up or deconstruction.
· Vehicle maintenance such as wash, clean, check fluids, tire pressure and take to designated locations to perform preventative maintenance as assigned by Management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid flagging certification card.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, especially when working under pressure. Good interpersonal skills with both internal and external customers.
Be able to work independently (minimal supervision). Must be able to follow instructions.
Must be flexible.
Must be available to work weekends, nights and holidays (if needed). Must be able to work outside in all kinds of weather.
Safely operate and maintain/ clean assigned vehicle.
ATTENDANCE
Regular attendance is an essential job duty; Must be able to work 10-hour shifts; Able to work weekends and holidays as needed; Work overtime as required; Must be able to travel overnight to attend off-site functions.
TECHNICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE
Must have basic computer and Internet skills; knowledge of software products such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is a plus.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No formal supervisory responsibility.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver's license required with clean driving record. Valid flagging certification card required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to read and interpret instructions and correspondence; interpret documents and safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but simple written or oral instructions. Ability to problem solve and deal with standardized situations with occasional variables.

Must be able to talk and hear.
