Summary

Under the direction of the Family Support Manager, Family Support Specialists provide support to
families in the community including individuals receiving treatment or in recovery, and their families as
by providing hope, encouragement, and support. Support is provided through the Two-Generation
approach to families with children with primary focus to strengthen protective factors and build adult
capacities to impact child wellbeing and development. FSS promotes knowledge of available service
options and the utilization of resources within the community.

Duties
  • Provide individual visits to assigned families to provide personal instruction, develop support plans, provide resources/referral service, demonstrate appropriate educational activities; deliver evidence?based curriculum and curriculum materials to caregivers regarding child development and related issues.
  • Perform coaching with families to support their self-directed goals and objectives.
  • Promotes Strengthening Families? Protective Factors.
  • Collect data as required for the purposes of requirements of private, state, and federal funding grants and sources.
  • Support the organizational requirements of accreditation and licensing requirements as it relates to policies, procedures, and trainings.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date documentation as required for billing of services and the proficient use of the existing data platforms.
  • Stays current in maintaining updated information and resources as they relate to recovery coaching and family support.
  • Assists in developing a customized Family Support Plans.
  • Provides group facilitation and participates in community events.
  • Helps individuals navigate recovery support systems as needed and assists families access resources including health and wellness, housing, employment, and other professionals and non-professional services.
  • Assists individuals in identifying local peer support meetings as needed.
  • Assist individuals with applying for insurance, DHHS benefits and establishing a primary care provider.
  • Assist in accessing transportation assistance to and from support services.
  • Assist individuals in feeling connected to a community through pro-social, recreational and cultural activities.
  • Demonstrate and model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies.
  • Provide individuals with ongoing education regarding substance use, mental health and wellness information.
  • Educate and support individuals in implementing a range of relapse prevention and harm-reduction strategies as needed.
  • Works closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure individual and family needs are met.
  • Access translation services as needed.
  • Actively participate in supervision.
  • Actively pursue CRSW, if required.
  • Other assigned duties.

Requirements
  • High School diploma (associates or BA preferred).
  • Experience in working with individuals and families in the community.
  • Valid NH driver's license with proper registration and insurance.
  • Approved criminal background check and DMV record check prior to official hire.

  • Knowledge of community services available to support families and individuals.
  • Ability to provide supports utilizing the framework of Strengthening Families? (promoting protective factors in the lives of families).
  • Knowledge of the Standards for Family Strengthening and Support.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to keep files and timelines organized.
  • Ability to enter data into a web-based data base with accuracy in a timely manner.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of addiction recovery modalities and ability to articulate the delivery of multiple pathways of recovery.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, demonstrating cultural and community awareness.
  • Ability to consider and incorporate diverse perspectives, while brokering positive relationships.
  • Ability to implement, track, follow through, and stay organized with any required documentation.
  • Ability to work independently within established framework.
  • Support the philosophy and mission of Archways.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to maintain boundaries and confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Completion of a basic Motivational interviewing curriculum.
  • Comfortable in visiting families in their homes and delivering support in a non-judgmental manner.
