POSITION OVERVIEW
The Rim is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated leader who can elevate the golf experience to the highest standards for all members and guests. The Head Golf Professional at The Rim is the golf ambassador of the Club and must possess the highest levels of integrity, professionalism and diplomacy. He or she will directly manage all areas of the golf operation and work closely with the Golf Superintendent, and all other department heads, while reporting to the General Manager/COO.
The Head Professional will be a strategic leader of the golf experience and must be a person of vision, planning, and business acumen. He or she is expected be an exceptional leader and manager who recognizes and respects the contributions of volunteer members and staff of all levels. The Head Golf Professional will be the face of the golf operation and will be expected to promote an exceptional golf experience and deliver creative services and programs for all of our members and guests.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
- PGA professional with a demonstrated track record of providing exceptional service in a private membership environment.
- Minimum of 3 to 6 years of progressive leadership and golf management experience.
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Golf Management but not required.
- A track record of working closely and successfully in a club setting, while providing leadership and partnership with the General Manager/COO
- Proven track record in program and player development working with all levels of playing ability to grow the game.
- Prior knowledge and experience with club management, point of sale, and tee time reservations.
- Prior working knowledge and experience with Golf Genius or similar programs.
- Knowledgeable in best practices in top performing and high member satisfaction operations around the country
JOB REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- PGA Class A Membership.
- High level of golf playing ability or playing enjoyment.
- Expertise in golfing rules and procedures.
- Good working knowledge of golf course agronomy.
- Position will be required to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, and weekends. Reliable and predictable attendance is required.
- Present a positive, professional image; solid leadership skills required.
- Ability to make good decisions and enforce club policies in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures. Must be able to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Must be self-motivated and customer service oriented.
- Must have superior interpersonal as well as written and oral communication skills.
- Must demonstrate appropriate analytical skills, attention to detail, and organizational and project management skills.
- Participative management style; use a "hands-on" approach. Build morale and spirit; experience motivating team members to work together to achieve goals.
- Capable of facilitating discussion between individuals with differing perspectives.
- Experience confronting performance issues as well as giving rewards and recognition.
- Experience managing a team through delegation and feedback.
- Creates realistic plans that support organizational goals. Effectively allocates resources and time. Must be able to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure and deal with stressful situations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with specific emphasis on Word, Excel and Outlook programs.
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for all duties associated with the golf operation that includes member satisfaction, tournament program, merchandising, daily play sheet management, staff training and development.
- Provides respectable leadership as a PGA professional in managing all aspects of the golf program and promotes a positive image for golf courses as a first-class golfing facility.
- Provides an enjoyable golfing experience for the membership by enforcing club rules and regulations as developed by the Board.
- Manages tee time procedures in a manner deemed to be fair and equitable for all players.
- Provides input and advice as requested by the COO/General Manager, the Golf Course Maintenance Department, or other members of the management team.
- Attends meetings and actively participates with Committees. Follows through with the decisions and activities generated by the Committees.
- Develops an annual operating budget for all golf programs and golf-related events and manages payroll hours for golf staff.
- Highly visible, approachable, and interactive individual committed to engaging members at every opportunity to develop high levels of member satisfaction.
- Strong communication skills with members and staff, creating an open exchange environment to move the golf operations forward in a consistently positive, passionate manner.
- Recruit and develop a team of service-oriented individuals focused on member service, teamwork, and continual improvement.
- Maintain a visible presence on the course during peak times of play.
- At times provide golf lessons to members and guests.
- Play golf with members, when able, of all skill levels to generate enthusiasm.
- Provides golf-related information for the club’s newsletter and website.
- Attend golf-related conferences, merchandise shows, and educational programs to stay informed with the latest trends and keep The Rim programming current.
- Enforce the By-laws governing play.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws regarding health, safety, and employment.
- Facilitate new golf member orientation program.
- Work cooperatively with all departments to uphold our Standard Operating Procedures through training, coaching, and accountability.
- Maintain a high level of order and cleanliness in all areas of the physical plant.
- Responsible for the management and maintenance of all operational assets.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the COO/General Manager.
