Job Title: Lead Production Operator, Portland OR
Who We Are Looking For:
We are currently seeking a Lead Production Operator for our Portland, OR location. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this senior level, full-time position is responsible for leading a crew of about 8 Production Operators, ensuring the quality and efficiency of the manufacturing process, focusing on continuous monitoring, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation. People applying for this job should have proven manufacturing experience.
Starting Pay: $32.38/hour while in training and $34.88/hour when certified.
Shifts: Three rotating shifts every 6 weeks: days 6:45 am – 3:00 pm, swing 2:45 pm – 11:00 pm, and nights 10:45 PM to 7:00 AM.
Additional: $1 differential for hours worked from 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
What You’ll Do:
- Quality Testing and Assurance:
- Conduct quality testing on every roll or pallet produced, including sampling and required tests.
- Perform quality testing for each resin application during new roll splices.
- Ensure adherence to product specification requirements as defined in Arclin Quality module.
- Collect film samples for retains and customer requirements.
- Monitoring and Maintenance:
- Monitor online film weight and moisture scanners continuously.
- Monitor defect detection cameras to identify and address issues promptly.
- Respond to defects arising from continuous operations affecting final product quality.
- Troubleshoot defects in collaboration with wet end operators and coater operators.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Record true product quality data into Arclin documenting systems.
- Enter all roll data into Arclin Quality module, including paper roll data and finished film roll data.
- Record all testing results in Arclin Quality module.
- Process Management and Housekeeping:
- Manage housekeeping of the dry end area and rolls before and after each splice.
- Check process settings before and after splices, ensuring continuity and quality.
- Follow through with paper splices and manage web break processes effectively.
- Production Support and Packaging:
- Prepare dry end and rewinder for feed, including full feed threading processes.
- Ensure proper housekeeping of dry end area and rolls after web breaks and treater feed.
- Create and attach labels for finished film rolls and assist in initial packing on treater rewinder.
- Unload finished film rolls onto the automatic roll packaging system.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all packaging requirements are met before transferring rolls to the shipping department.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
To Be Successful, You Will Need:
- Proven experience in a manufacturing environment (5-10 years), ideally in a role involving quality assurance and production oversight.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of testing procedures and equipment used in manufacturing operations.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and ensure compliance.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications preferred.
Working Conditions:
- This role involves working in a manufacturing plant environment, which may include exposure to machinery, noise, and various production materials.
- Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required based on production demands.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift objects up to 50 pounds as necessary during the course of the shift.
