Arconic is seeking an EHS Manager to join our Aluminum Extrusion (AEX) business unit based in Lafayette, IN.
Profile : The primary purpose of this role is to be responsible for full implementation of Company EHS management systems and processes.
Essential Functions : The EHS Manager within AEX requires technical and interpersonal skills essential to teamwork. Major duties include but are not limited to :
Responsibility for full compliance to appropriate regulatory requirements.
Establishing a culture that is aligned with Company EHS goals and objectives, with continuous improvement in plant incidents, with reductions in frequency as well as severity.
General duties for the EHS Manager include but are not limited to :
Leading the development of an EHS strategy for Lafayette to ensure continuous improvement and sustainability for all aspects of EHS.
Driving the EHS culture change at Lafayette
Creating systems and processes that drive a proactive safety culture.
Developing professional working relationships and trust with union leadership and joint works committee.
Leading the planning, directing, and coordination of EHS compliance activities through functional teams, direction of plant manager and input from EHS staff.
Leading the development and implementation of plant specific policies, procedures and programs to achieve and maintain compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Developing and implementing EHS programs and systems (including records) in order to maintain and demonstrate regulatory compliance as well as comply with Arconic policies and procedures.
Coordinating within the EHS Department the preparation and submittal of requests for environmental permits relating to air quality, solid wastes, water quality and transportation of hazardous materials and waste.
Developing and maintaining records necessary to comply with relevant laws and regulations.
Ensuring EHS Department prepares and submit reports to document compliance activities.
Work in conjunction with the union to build a strong culture of safety.
Assisting in maintaining environmental and health / safety records.
Identifying and developing good working relationships with state and local authorities (i.e., state / local environmental and safety agencies, wastewater authorities, fire departments, etc.) as well as appropriate internal Environmental, Health and Safety contacts.
Maintaining working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations and identify all requirements that apply, or may apply, to the facility.
Coordinating the development and implementation of training programs for all required elements of the EHS management system.
Developing and / or using Arconic training materials to prepare for plant specific situations, identifying other training materials, preparing training outlines and define training requirements for plant EHS activities.
Coordinating and tracking EHS related training for Lafayette’s employees.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
A minimum of 7 years of managerial experience in a multidiscipline EHS environment.
Experience working within a Union environment.
Experience in developing and implementing EHS programs.
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and / or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Qualified candidate must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the relevant government agency. Business demands may require employer to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
