Arconic is currently in search of an Electrical Power Engineer to join our team at our Global Rolled Products (GRP) business unit located in Davenport, IA.

Since it opened in 1948, Arconic’ s Davenport, Iowa aluminum facility has been at the forefront of American manufacturing. Nestled on the banks of the Mississippi River in Iowa, the plant employs 2,400 people and is a focal point of the global aluminum industry, with 25 percent of revenues coming from exports. Through continued modernization, including a $500 million investment over the past decade alone, Davenport has maintained its position as the world’s premier aerospace supply plant and is today the hub of Arconic’s $3 billion aerospace business.
The Electrical Power Engineer is responsible for providing project leadership and management in the engineering, design, procurement, construction, and implementation of systems and equipment primarily for energy efficiency and electrical distribution including :
Identifying and developing innovative solutions related to Energy Efficiency as driven by the DPW energy reduction metrics.
Identifying and completing projects that improve reliability and reduce risk in the plant electrical distribution network.
Additional responsibilities (but not limited to) are the following :
- Coordinate all phases of assigned area electrical engineering projects from concept, scope development, written specifications, bid solicitations, design, manufacturing, equipment commissioning, and project closure
- Lead and participate in problem solving efforts with multi-discipline technical staff, maintenance and production
Directs the activities of designers, maintenance personnel, and outside contractors during field construction, planned and unplanned site wide electrical power outages and resolves start-up and operating problems
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
Minimum of 5 years of electrical engineering experience
Basic understanding of medium voltage power distribution
This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Preferred Qualifications :
10 years or more experience in a manufacturing environment
5 years or more experience and demonstrated proficiency in executing power distribution projects
2 years or more experience in interpreting power modeling software including arc flash and short circuit studies
Technical expertise in switchgear, MCC's, transfer switches, switch yards, generator sets, UPS, transformers, power control systems, distribution systems and coordination of protective devices
