Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to:
Manage programs and processes which provide employees of Kawneer Springdale with excellent occupational medical care within the scope of practice of the person occupying the role whilst also effectively representing the company’s interests in matters of OSHA recordkeeping and worker’s compensation.
- Provision of direct clinical care and referral to external health care providers and specialists as needed; implementation of Arconic’s Health Standards and Protocols.
- Responsibility for the coordination of the medical portion of Pre-Employment, Return to Work, Disability Management and FMLA compliance.
- Conducting health assessments, screenings, monitoring, and counseling within the scope of nursing knowledge and practice.
- Maintenance of health information to safeguard confidentiality.
- Conducting workplace walkthroughs and exposure follow-ups.
- Overseeing location Emergency Medical Response Personnel; ensuring compliance with OSHA and other state and federal health regulations.
- Administer location medical surveillance programs.
- Lead creative departmental improvements.
- Participate as a resource for the location Ergonomic Team.
- Aid in the maintenance of the facility incident tracking database.
- Leader for the Plant Wellness Initiatives; promote health and wellness.
- Collaborating with plant EHS staff to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.
- Facilitate EHS trainings in conjunction with EHS team and training coordinator.
- Collaborate with HR department to support the businesses' hiring needs by tracking, scheduling, and coordinating pre-employment physicals for the Springdale location, per the Arconic standard.
- Employee support for the Short-Term Disability process along with reviewing return to work readiness and communication.
- Track, schedule and coordinate fitness for duty physicals, audiometric evaluations, and heat stress surveys for the Springdale location and other North American BCS locations as needed.
- Liaise with third party medical service providers to achieve optimal outcomes for injury management, OSHA record keeping, workers compensation, and fitness for duty issues for the Springdale location and other North American BCS locations as needed.
- Monitor changes in legal requirements and standard industry practices for occupational medicine and advise BCS leaders on policy decisions as needed.
- Provide any applicable training to the team on related job duties content.
- Provide support for needs related to mental health evaluations and referral in conjunction with the Arconic Employee Assistance Program.
- Other duties as required.
Essential Knowledge & Skills/Education
- Strong communication, analytical and human relations skills;
- Skilled in use of personal computers with emphasis on analytical software;
- Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation, training/leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills;
- Ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and work in a team environment essential.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution of nursing.
- Licensure to practice as an registered nurse, or nurse practitioner in the state of Arkansas. License to practice has never been revoked.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in critical care or emergency room nursing or equivalent.
- Current basic life support certification or training equivalent. – Can be obtained within 6 months of start of employment.
- Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution of nursing.
- Certification in Occupational Health (COHN)
- CAOHC Occupational Hearing Certification
- NIOSH Spirometry Certification
- Certificate as Breath alcohol technician and professional collector.
- Special training and experience in occupational health. Knowledge of workers' compensation, case management, government regulations.
- Active affiliation with AAOHN.
