Arcosa Marine Products, Inc., is looking for a seasoned, hardworking, smart, and highly motivated Mechanical Engineer with an emphasis in Sales and management of outsourced manufacturing for our Bossier City, LA plant. You will be responsible for providing engineering expertise to the design and development of new products as well as improving existing designs. You will also be responsible for supporting and engineering, sales team, and outside vendors.
Arcosa’s Inland Barge Group is comprised of Arcosa Marine Products, Inc., a leading manufacturer of barges used to transport cargo on U.S. inland waterways. Arcosa Marine Products manufactures dry cargo barges, including flat-deck and hopper barges, that are used to transport a variety of products including grain, coal, and aggregates. Arcosa Marine Products also manufactures tank barges that carry petroleum, fertilizer, ethanol, chemicals, and other liquid cargoes. It is the largest U.S. manufacturer of fiberglass hopper barge covers used primarily on grain barges. Additionally, Arcosa Marine Products provides a full line of deck hardware to the marine industry, including hatches, castings, and winches for towboats and dock facilities
What You'll Do:
• Support the engineering teams’ efforts by contributing engineering expertise in the form of sales, drawings, concepts, and customer relations
• Support the sales team with drawings, concepts, layouts, and leads daily
• Managing and collaborating with outside vendors by contributing engineering expertise, drawings, and layouts, as well developing a manufacturing and logistics strategy
• Support the quality program with improvements to design and manufacturing to reduce quality issues. Needs to be comfortable with direct involvement with product testing, troubleshooting, and inspection
Value Add Design – Take advantage of NABRICO’s extensive catalog to offer customers customized solutions based on existing designs. Works directly with customers, sales, and outside vendors to develop concepts, drawings, and quotes. Responsible for ensuring that designs meet customer needs as well as industry standards and applicable regulations.
Inside Sales – Ability to directly discuss customer needs and translate those conversations into a mechanical solution that is practical and viable all while meeting customer needs.
New Product Design – Creatively design new products in well planned form to present to supervision for approval. Monitor prototype creation for new product ideas. Perform structural analysis on new designs as well as financial analysis to determine market viability. Responsible for ensuring designs are safe, functional, reliable, serviceable, manufacturable, and cost effect while at the same time emphasizing ergonomics and aesthetics.
Product Release – Review and assist in engineering design release for production. Communicate with outside vendors on released orders and future products to be manufactured to generate an ideal logistics plan based on promised delivery dates.
Future Business Opportunities – Continuously look for new opportunities in other markets. Partner with sales team to plan, prepare, and execute strategic marketing and growth.
What You'll Need:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Proven work experience in Manufacturing and/or Sales Engineering
• Excellent written communication, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a team oriented and fast paced environment
• Proficient in Autodesk Inventor and Vault
• iLogic programming experience a plus
• 3-5 years’ work experience
• Willingness to travel, possibly overseas
