What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Manager position at Arcosa Brand?
Arcosa Lightweight is searching for a Production Manager for our Boulder, CO plant.
Arcosa Lightweight is a leading producer and distributor in the Western and Southwestern U.S. of lightweight and natural aggregates, including expanded shale and clay, crushed stone, sand and gravel, asphalt rock, and other products.
What You'll Do:
- Comply with all industry safety rules, procedures and applicable government regulations including but not limited to ensuring a safe working environment for self and others
- Participate in plant safety initiatives, committees, and activities
- Operate plant in compliance of all MSHA standards as well as environmental, air and water permits at all times
- Manage production crew within a 24/7 production environment
- Work closely with Maintenance Manager and other departments to assure planning of production, outages, etc. are properly communicated
- Oversee production, kiln shutdowns, personnel and fuel cost
- Plan and direct the operation of the plant to assure cost effective production of sufficient volume to support sales objectives, protection and maintenance of facilities and equipment
- Schedule and direct plant production to ensure availability of sufficient production to meet sales demand
- Support the Plant Manager in monitoring operating budget and production efficiency, initiating corrective action as required to ensure effectiveness of plant operations as measured by production variances
- Monitor production and initiate corrective action as required to ensure that product conforms to quality control parameters regarding weight and gradation
- Foster a hands-on leadership approach to develop and establish a team culture
- Hire, train and motivate plant personnel to ensure the competency and productivity of the work force
- Assist Plant Manager in development of short- and long-range plans for capital expenditures to ensure prudent commitment of funds for capital improvements
- Ensure the shift foreman and hourly employees are adequately trained and motivated to ensure that each shift is staffed and trained in their duties, to ensure the manning of all shifts and regulate time off and back up personnel
- Set priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinate work activities with other supervisor
- Manage production emergencies on nights and weekends
- Other duties as assigned
What You Will Need:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of management experience, required
- Familiarity with MSHA standards, required
- Strong computer skills – MS Office, required
- Aggregates experience, preferred
- Ability to lift weights up to 60 pounds, stand, bend and kneel at periods of time, and walk up and down elevated catwalks and stairs
- Ability to work in varied outdoor environments (cold, hot, dry, dusty, rainy, snowy, icy)
Compensation:
- $120,000 / year
- Short-term incentive target of 10%
