Job Summary
In this role as a Mining Engineer, you will work at specific locations, gaining exposure to many aspects of the businesses, including operations management (hard rock, sand & gravel, wet mining, etc.), continuous improvement, sales, environmental, and other support functions. This position will have 75% travel from your home base (Mon.-Fri. travel) with all travel expenses covered by Arcosa. Home location can be at the corporate headquarters (Arlington, TX) or one of our regional offices.
You will gain exposure to and work closely with all levels of management within operations and the many business support areas (Accounting, Finance, HR, Technical Services, etc.) and be responsible for analyzing and improving production systems, processes, and operations. You will work closely with various departments to identify areas for improvement and develop optimization strategies to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall performance.

Day To Day
- Effectively communicate with plant and regional management and seek to understand the drivers of an operations business to identify potential areas for improvement.
- Learn to manage teams, first by understanding the various functional roles, then by seeking ways to improve processes and, ultimately, the team's (and operations) performance.
- Develop and implement performance metrics to track progress and measure success.
- Be comfortable learning more about what you don’t know and applying what you learn to other training segments.
- Learn from and help others understand “what good looks like” within all areas that affect efficient aggregate operations.
- Comply with all industry safety rules, procedures, and applicable government regulations.
- Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mining, civil engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience working in various related roles/industries. Former internships in aggregate operations are a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to listen, learn, and influence change while being able to challenge the status quo where necessary.
- Experience with optimization tools and methodologies. – Proficient in the Office Suite (Excel, Work PowerPoint Visio, etc.) and exposed to applications that support plant and mobile fleet optimizations such as AggFlow, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or others.
- Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
