Arcosa Marine is searching for a Safety Oriented Crane Operator in our Ashland City, TN barge manufacturing plant. Our Crane Operators work for a company that puts employees first and offers great benefits. As a Crane Operator at Arcosa Marine, you’ll operate electrically-powered, diesel, or rubber tire cranes consisting of operator’s cab and moveable hoist mechanism mounted on bridge to lift, move, and position loads, such as machinery, equipment, products, and solid or bulk material, using hoisting attachments.
Arcosa Marine Products, Inc., is part of Arcosa’s Inland Barge Group, and is a leading manufacturer of barges used to transport cargo on U.S. inland waterways. Arcosa Marine Products manufactures dry cargo barges, including flat-deck and hopper barges, that are used to transport a variety of products including grain, coal, and aggregates. Arcosa Marine Products also manufactures tank barges that carry petroleum, fertilizer, ethanol, chemicals, and other liquid cargoes. It is the largest U.S. manufacturer of fiberglass hopper barge covers used primarily on grain barges. Additionally, Arcosa Marine Products provides a full line of deck hardware to the marine industry, including hatches, castings, and winches for towboats and dock facilities.
What you’ll do:
- Operate mobile cranes, gantry, bridge or whirly cranes with a lifting capacity greater than 35 tons
- Operate a cab operated overhead crane
- Operate a steel yard overhead crane
- Move and lift more than 20 tons
- May perform as rigger for gantry cranes
- Responsible for daily inspection, assigned maintenance, and safe operation of assigned crane
- Ensure crane is properly secured (tied-off) at the end of each shift
- Support other departments and/or machine operators as needed
- Follow all safety rules and practices
- May be involved in safety committees or initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
What you’ll need:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Crane Operator
- Ability to move and lift more than 20 tons
- Work requires the ability to read and write in order to complete standard records
- Knowledge and experience in operating controls, rigging principles, hand signals, and safe lifting procedures
- Must have completed crane operator training and certification course provided by the Safety Department
- Must have the ability to operate crane and lift loads in a safe and non-hazardous manner to ensure the safety of operator and all other employees in the area
