Accounting Generalist

Basic Function and Overview: 

Responsible for accounting duties, including managing HOAs, and assisting with other accounting functions such as property maintenance invoicing and payment receipts, accounts payable, cash receipts, and monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activity.


Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:

HOA Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for each HOA, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, and general ledger entries.
  • Produce accurate and timely dues invoices for all owners and manage collection issues.  
  • Perform bank reconciliations and review daily bank accounts for irregularities. 
  • Review financial statements for accuracy and completeness for approval to produce financial statements, annual statements, annual budgets, and other financial analyses. 
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with HOA boards and HOA officers on the status of HOA financial operations. 
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with the Property Manager. 

Additional accounting duties include but are not limited to:

  • Accounts payable: codes invoices, new vendors set up, prepares payments, etc.  
  • Cash receipts: reconciles receipts to POS reports and deposits funds to the bank. 
  • Assisting property maintenance with work orders: invoices and manages cash receipts. 
  • Assists with maintaining the general ledger with journal entries and reconciling some accounts to close the monthly books. 
  • Assists with developing procedures and processes for continuity.
  • Adheres to resort safety protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail  
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. 
  • Proficient with accounting software, preferably QuickBooks Online
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred. A combination of education and related experience will be considered.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a related field.
  • Homeowners Association experience is preferred but not required.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
