What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shuttle Driver position at ARCTARIS SADDLEBACK SKI OPERATIONS LLC?
This role is for the 24/25 ski season. Full-Time and Part-Time seasonal positions are available. CDL preferred.
Basic Function and Overview:
As a Shuttle Driver at Saddleback resort, you will be responsible for safely transporting staff and guests from offsite employee housing to the resort and back, as well as to resort events, on-mountain condos, and other locations such as Walmart, airports, banks, etc. You will greet customers and employees, adhere to the bus schedule punctually, and operate vehicles safely, even in dark conditions. Nights, weekends, and holidays are the busiest periods, and availability during these times is required.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide day and night operations of shuttle service.
- Greet guests and employees and maintain a friendly, professional attitude.
- Obtain and keep an up-to-date Class B Driver’s License with passenger and air brake endorsements.
- Adhere to company policies to ensure the safe transportation of guests, employees, and equipment.
- Fill out daily paperwork accurately and in a timely fashion, including vehicle inspections, daily driver’s log, guest count, fueling etc.
- Report any personal driving infractions from a regular vehicle or commercial motor vehicle to the Supervisor as soon as possible.
- Operate shuttle vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Always ensure the safety and comfort of passengers.
- Transport passengers to and from designated locations in a safe and timely manner.
- Follow pre-planned routes and schedules to ensure timely arrival at destinations.
- Assist passengers with loading and unloading luggage, ski equipment, and other items.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the shuttle vehicle.
- Conduct regular inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Report any vehicle malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate department.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving the shuttle vehicle.
- Provide excellent customer service to passengers, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
- May collect fares or tickets from passengers and maintain accurate records of transactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to drive in adverse weather conditions.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Excellent customer service and good communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with passengers.
- Ability to follow a schedule and ensure on-time arrivals.
- Availability during nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to drive safely in the dark.
- Ability to operate a passenger van or shuttle bus.
- Ability to follow directions and schedules.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a shuttle driver is preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
Required Education and Experience:
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- CDL may be required and is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and drive for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Good vision, hearing, and hand-eye coordination.
- Walk up and down stairs repeatedly.
- Spend prolonged periods outside in cold weather.
Working Conditions:
- Shuttle bus drivers often work in variable weather conditions and may be exposed to fumes, odors, and noise.
- Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required.
- Must be able to drive in adverse weather conditions.
