What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trail Maintenance position at ARCTARIS SADDLEBACK SKI OPERATIONS LLC?
Basic Function and Overview: The Trail Maintenance Crew is responsible for the overall maintenance and management of the trails at Saddleback Mountain. This includes maintenance of ski and bike trails, getting the bike park ready to open, managing materials, and assisting with planning and implementing new trail development.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Learn and grasp various trail maintenance tasks from general labor to running brush saws, chainsaws, and other equipment.
- Perform heavy, repetitive manual labor for up to 10 hours at a time.
- Maintain trails.
- Clearing, trimming, and cutting vegetation.
- Install and maintain erosion control measures.
- Participate in revegetation efforts and any other environmentally related activity.
- Safely execute all functions by evaluating immediate surroundings and ensuring that the proper PPE is being used for self and others.
- Ensure that there is a clear understanding of the requested tasks and ask for clarification when needed.
- Comprehend and adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and problem solve in the field.
- Know tools and equipment related to completing assigned tasks.
- Operate tools and equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury to yourself or others.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to use power tools.
- Ability to use small machinery as needed, such as skid steer, ATV, excavator, and chainsaw.
- A valid driver's license is required.
Required Education and Experience:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of previous construction, landscape, trail work or related experience.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift/move up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
