Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to join our Physical Therapy, Chiropractic and Massage team. The Medical Biller plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of the practice while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
Duties
- Review and verify patient information and insurance details to ensure accuracy in billing.
- Utilize ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG coding systems to accurately code medical procedures and diagnoses.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on outstanding claims.
- Manage medical collections by contacting patients regarding unpaid bills and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintain organized medical records and documentation for all billing activities.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in medical coding or billing processes.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices to ensure compliance.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or related roles within a medical office setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG, and other relevant coding systems.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing software.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
- Proficient in handling sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Certification in Medical Coding or Billing is preferred but not required.
