Arctic Harvest Deliveries is a small, Anchorage-based, farm-to-table distribution company. We are a values-driven business with a passion for creating creative distribution solutions for local farmers.
We source and distribute a variety of products, including produce, meat, eggs, milk and other locally grown, raised, harvested and made foods. While we prioritize Alaska grown products, we also source from organic U.S. farms for much of the year to supplement local availability. We distribute to restaurants, lodges, and several independent grocery stores, as well as direct-to-consumer through our subscription Farm Share program.
Position Description
We have an immediate opening for a full-time, Produce Handler and Delivery Driver at 40 hours per week. This position will deliver orders to our wholesale customers in Anchorage, help pack and provide home delivery of our retail Farm Share boxes, and provide other support to our warehouse operations as needed.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Safely deliver perishable products using our 16ft refrigerated box truck and cargo van
- Follow provided routes and time schedule as assigned, with the ability to make decisions on route changes if issues arise
- Load heavy produce and meat orders (up to 60 lbs) using a lift gate, pallet jack, dolly and a strong back
- Provide great customer service
- Assist with pulling and packing retail produce box orders
- Maintain superior product quality at all times
- Follow warehouse protocols for box packing, shipping, receiving, stocking and cleanliness
Requirements
- Comfortable driving for several hours at a time around all areas of Anchorage, occasionally in inclement weather (winter driving experience required)
- Ability to lift 60 pounds or more repeatedly throughout the day (while using correct posture!)
- Stamina to keep a consistent, steady pace while packing orders and loading vehicles with a smile on your face
- Ability to be adaptable and keep a level head when plans change.
- Ability to communicate clearly with management and be comfortable receiving friendly feedback.
- Ability to identify basic produce varieties and assess quality preferred (additional OTJ training provided).
- Have experience with driving large vehicles
- Be reliable, respectful, hard working and able to work well independently
- Must be at least 26 years old, pass a background check and have a clean driving record
Schedule Compensation
This is a full-time, year round position. Schedule is Monday & Friday 9am - 5pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 10am - 6pm.
Pay starts at $20/hr. DOE. Employee discounts on all products. PTO begins after 3 months of employment.
