What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Care Technician position at Arctic Slope Native Association LTD?
Position Summary:
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) assists Nurses and Providers in direct patient care. The PCT performs duties consistent with his/her training and proven competence and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care delivery at Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital (SSMH). Basic duties include, but are not limited to: assisting patients with activities of daily living, obtaining vital signs, and observing patients. Other duties may be assigned.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- Required: Current BLS Certification within 30 days of hire
- Preferred: Current Alaska Certification as a CNA, or
- Current Alaska Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or
- Current Alaska Certification as a Medical Assistant, or
- Equivalent Military Experience
- Formal training in Nonviolent Crisis Prevention (CPI) must be completed within (1) year of hire.
Education:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Clinical experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Previous healthcare experience preferred
- Demonstrates good organizational skills
- Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers
- Specific departments may require some specified skills.
