Heavy-Duty Field Mechanic - AEQ Prudhoe Bay
JOB SUMMARY
The Heavy-Duty Field Mechanic will be responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and ongoing maintenance of a wide range of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, light plants, generators, tractors, pickups, trailers, air compressors, loaders, and other specialized machinery. The role requires a combination of technical expertise and hands-on experience, providing high-quality service in a fast-paced, field-based environment. This position will be located in the challenging conditions of the North Slope, with a rotation-based schedule. As a resident live-in mechanic and / or field-based technician, you will operate out of the Deadhorse shop and collaborate closely with project leadership and shop management to prioritize and execute repairs effectively and efficiently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Inspect heavy vehicles and equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
- Repair heavy construction vehicles and equipment such as cranes, front-end loaders, tractor-trailers, Super-Suckers, aerial lifts, skid steers, and non-mobile equipment such as heaters, light plants, and generators based on inspection and direction from supervisors.
- Adjust, repair, and replace the following : engines, transmissions, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, Centrifugal pumps, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and steering.
- Disassemble and reassemble vehicle and equipment parts using hoists, hand tools, pneumatic tools, and electric tools.
- Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including lube, oil, and filter changes in accordance with maintenance schedules.
- Diagnose and repair DEF and after treatment systems.
- Operate vehicles and equipment to diagnose issues and test drive after repairs are complete to ensure issue(s) have been resolved.
- Clean and maintain equipment, tools, and the general work area.
- Prepare and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Hours worked will depend on project location.
- Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed require.
- Comply with company and customer policies and procedures.
- Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE
While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms.
Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet are free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV / Theater Room, etc.
Each facility will have their own accommodations and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.
