Summary
Senior Research Associates at Arcus work in a highly collaborative environment with colleagues across the organization. The Biology team is seeking a self-motivated and technically skilled researcher with expertise in the field of immunology and inflammation.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing a variety of in vitro model systems using primary human and murine cells to help validate potential new targets and build an in-depth understanding surrounding the modulation of immune cells in disease models for Arcus drug candidates. This role is responsible for contributing experimentally as part of a multidisciplinary team, assembling data for internal research meetings as well as external distribution (including regulatory filings and conference presentations).

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, immunology, immuno-oncology or a closely related field.
- Bachelors with 5 years or Masters with 3 years industry lab-based experience.
- Experience working with primary human myeloid and lymphoid cells using in vitro assays including MLRs and immune cell activation assays.
- Experience with the growth and manipulation of mammalian cell lines.
- Experience isolating immune cells from blood and primary tissues.
- Ability to design, run, analyze, and troubleshoot flow cytometry panels.
- Competency in common molecular biology techniques, such as ELISA, nucleic acid extraction, real-time PCR, and western blotting.
- Experience with data analysis/visualization software (Excel, GraphPad Prism, FlowJo)
- Comprehensive knowledge of statistical analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute well-researched and controlled experimental protocols with minimal supervision.
- Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
- Experience with technical report writing is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are required along with a solutions-based approach, flexibility, and the ability to focus and deliver on time-sensitive objectives.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Frequently stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, squat, grasp lightly, use fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, perform desk-based computer tasks, use telephone, write by hand, lift, carry, push and pull objects weighing over 40 pounds. • Occasionally sit, kneel, crawl, reach and work above shoulders, sort and file paperwork or parts. • Rarely climb, scrub, sweep, mop, chop and mix or operate hand and foot controls. • Must have correctible vision to perform duties of the job. • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, stand, reach above shoulder level, and move on hard surfaces for up to eight hours. • Ability to lift heavy objects, possibly weighing up to 50 pounds. • Position may require repetitive motion. This role is based at our Hayward, CA location. The anticipated salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this position is $95,000 - $130,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate of what we reasonably expect to pay for this posted position. The actual salary may vary based on various factors including, without limitation, individual education, experience, tenure, skills and abilities, internal equity and alignment with market data.
