Forensic Engineer Role :
ARCXIS is looking for a full-time professional structural engineer with 2 or more years of experience in the residential industry to join our Forensic Engineering Department. This person should have prior structural design experience with wood construction and concrete foundations. As part of the Arcxis Forensic Team our goal is to provide builders with support on any issues or claims made concerning mostly residential homes. Due to the number of homes built on expansive soils, a large part of the daily work will be foundation evaluations on homes that have experienced some type of foundation movement. This role will be part of the initial scope determination for forensic inspections, will provide inspectors training, work to maintain communications with inspectors to ensure successful inspections, will review field measurements and work with the engineering design team to produce modeling and analysis for foundation movements, and will prepare written reports with recommendations or repair solutions for our builders.
However, the scope of work can vary significantly depending on items of concern. The scope of inspections and reports may not be limited to just residential structures or foundations. Other examples of forensic work performed would be : retaining wall distress and failures, structural failure evaluations, engineer responses to 3rd party inspectors, engineer responses to 3rd party engineers, ventilation related concerns, energy related concerns, HVAC related concerns, large commercial related distress concerns, storm related damages, and basically anything our clients need help figuring out. Ideal candidates should be fairly knowledgeable on common building practices and assemblies. This is a fast-paced department that is growing significantly every year. Lots of opportunity for growth and diversity in services provided.
Ideal candidates would be able to work out of the Arcxis Houston Corporate offices or the new DFW office that is expected to be formally open in March 2025. However, candidates in other locations within Texas, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Colorado, and Florida are also encouraged to apply and considerations may be made for the right candidate; along with remote work considerations for those currently growing markets.

The candidate will work directly under an experienced senior-level licensed professional engineer with over 20 years’ experience and is licensed in 25 states across the US. Our current senior engineer for the Forensic Department has mentored many of our engineers and has aided them in acquiring the necessary experience and skills to be successful. Training will be provided on the common scope of daily work along with internal quality checks and feedback to ensure the candidate is well prepared and competent at the work being performed.

Work Schedule :
Generally, Monday – Friday 8-5. However, overtime may be needed on occasion. Additionally, flexibility, remote work, and hybrid work can be discussed and may be considered for the right candidate.
