Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Energy Modeler to join our team. The Energy Modeler will create detailed design drawings using CAD software and perform energy modeling analysis for residential and non-residential structures using whole building analysis programs such as Ekotrope, and EnergyPro. The Energy Modeler will work closely with other members of the design team to produce accurate, high-quality designs that meet the needs of the project.
Primary Responsibilities
- Define scope, assignments and deliverables that support goals in collaboration with senior management.
- Own the process of coordinating and finalizing regulatory and compliance documents.
- Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other departments.
- Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
- Track project milestones and deliverables.
- Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
- Conduct project postmortems and create recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
- Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals within established project timelines.
- Extensive working knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD and/or Sketchup)
- Ability to analyze design sketches and specifications to create technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail to ensure drawings are accurate according to specifications
- Communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with architects, engineers and other professionals
- Time management skills to work with multiple projects and competing deadlines
- Advanced mathematical skills
- Learn about Arcxis, its history, services, employees, projects and clients.
- Learn what systems and software programs are used within the Energy department.
- Specifically, learn how to input data, file, organize, and maintain internal files and processes.
- Produce residential and non-residential energy models with minimal supervision.
- Read and transfer plan information from architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans.
- Become familiar with Heat Transfer principles, such as conduction, convection and radiation transfer.
- Obtain knowledge of IECC and/or ASHRAE.
- Capacity or willingness to learn about HVAC systems, such as heat pumps, and cooling towers
- Ability to provide information on energy efficiency measures based on modeling outputs.
- Ability to communicate technical details to project team members.
- Create detailed design drawings using CAD software
- Work with other members of the design team to ensure the accuracy of designs
- Evaluate existing designs and develop new and improved designs
- Provide technical support and advice to other members of the design team
- Troubleshoot design issues
- Ensure design drawings meet industry standards and specifications
- Maintain documentation of designs
- Ensure quality in all aspects of work.
Requirements
- HERS Rater Certification (preferred), training to be provided.
- Minimum of 2 years of Energy Modeling Experience required
- 2 Years of Construction Knowledge (preferred)
- 3 years experience in CAD design
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to read and understand a set of residential architectural plans
- Strong time management and organization skills
- Experienced in communicating effectively with a variety of audiences, including customers, clients, and colleagues.
