Ardelyx is a publicly traded commercial biopharmaceutical company founded with a mission to discover, develop and commercialize innovative first-in-class medicines that meet significant unmet medical needs. Ardelyx has two commercial products approved in the United States, IBSRELA® (tenapanor) and XPHOZAH® (tenapanor). Ardelyx has agreements for the development and commercialization of tenapanor outside of the U.S. Kyowa Kirin commercializes PHOZEVEL® (tenapanor) for hyperphosphatemia in Japan. A New Drug Application for tenapanor for hyperphosphatemia has been approved in China with Fosun Pharma. Knight Therapeutics commercializes IBSRELA in Canada.
- Develop and execute relevant in vivo models critical to the evaluation of compound activity, mechanism of action, and generation of key data sets that drive drug programs
- Review, assess, plan, and execute activities relevant to our GI/cardiorenal portfolio
- Identify CROs and academic institutions to collaborate with on research projects
- Support drug discovery efforts, due diligence and preclinical de-risking of GI/cardiorenal opportunities, and assist drug development team in providing IND-enabling data
- Provide scientific input to the management team on new therapeutic opportunities and competitive intelligence on GI/cardiorenal programs
- Ph.D. in biology, pharmacology, or related discipline with 5 years of related experience or equivalent experience
- Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry is a plus
- Broad knowledge and proven ability to evaluate, develop, and troubleshoot in vivo models and systems for compound evaluation in GI/cardiorenal diseases and a deep working knowledge of the animal models required to progress candidate molecules
- Connections with key opinion leaders in fields relevant to the disease area is helpful
- Experience/knowledge in gut physiology and the role of intestinal receptors/transporters is a plus
- A commitment to high-quality research and the execution of research plans in a timely and organized manner
- Strong written and communication skills, and an ability to work effectively with a diverse team of co-workers in a dynamic environment
Salary : $136,000 - $166,000
