ACCOUNTING MANAGER /STAFF ACCOUNTANT

The Accounting Manager is a key member of the Finance Department, with responsibilities that include preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements, participating in the annual budget and financial and 403(b) audits, overseeing and reconciling accounts, reviewing bi-weekly payroll, and preparing a variety of detailed schedules and analyses. Experience with non-profit fund accounting, investments or endowments, payroll, 403(b) retirement plans, or automating systems (A/P, credit card transactions) is a plus. This is a wonderful role for someone who loves accounting as well as Christian Science nursing and is eager to use their talents to be a blessing to others with room to grow!
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- 7-10 years of experience in accounting field (non-profit environment a plus)
- Practicing student of Christian Science (preferred)
- Class-taught, Mother Church and active branch church member (preferred)
- Solid computer skills in Excel, Quickbooks or similar accounting software, Microsoft Outlook, navigating websites, as well as general acumen with computers and other software programs
- Excellent interpersonal skills among team members, customers and outside service providers
- Accurate, detail-oriented, and analytical
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven accounting skills and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles

Summary of Duties:
- Responsible for accuracy and analysis of monthly financial statements compared to budget and prior year periods
- Responsible for General Ledger and all month-end closings including donor restricted funds
- Prepares and inputs monthly journal entries and supporting schedules
- Oversees accounts at financial institutions and prepares monthly account reconciliations including internal cash flow worksheets
- Reviews bi-weekly payroll, analyzes variances to prior period, submits cash transfer request and 403(b) withholdings.
- Works closely with DOF in budget process, and annual CPA audits
- Prepares variety of schedules and analyses, including investments, fixed assets, Workers Compensation, Endowments, 403(b) annual census, monthly donations reconciliation with Donor Perfect
- Responsible for filing of State and local tax returns (Sales & Use etc.)
- Other duties as assigned and/or appropriate
