Activities & Welfare Manager (Dual Role)
The Activities & Welfare Manager (AWM) is responsible for the successful implementation, administration, and delivery of both the recreational program and the overall welfare of students. This dual role ensures students experience a high-quality activities program while also maintaining their safety, security, and well-being. The AWM manages, trains, and supervises staff across both areas, ensuring integration and smooth operation between activities and welfare services.
The AWM is required to live on-site, have knowledge of the city/cities they are working in, and fulfill a demanding workload. We are seeking availability between late June and early August.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Activities Management:
- Plan and deliver a high-quality activities program, including daytime activities and evening entertainment.
- Lead and motivate a team of activity staff to promote engagement and enthusiasm among students, staff, and foreign group leaders.
- Manage, train, and regularly observe all activity staff.
- Ensure the seamless integration of the activities program with the academic schedule.
- Oversee the scheduling, preparation, and promotion of activities, ensuring all students participate.
- Lead daily team meetings with activity staff and attend center management meetings as necessary.
- Liaise with the US Head Office regarding activity materials and stock management.
- Assist the Center Director in the setup, closing, and day-to-day operations of the center.
Welfare Management:
- Ensure and deliver an excellent level of pastoral care for all students, including non-residential students.
- Address cultural adjustments and dietary needs, ensuring inclusivity and respect.
- Assist with accommodation planning and room allocations.
- Manage, train, and observe welfare staff.
- Conduct pre-arrival and departure checks and room inspections.
- Run a weekly welfare desk to provide guidance and support to students and foreign group leaders.
- Supervise nightly duties on a rota basis (four days per week, 22:00-01:00), ensuring student safety and adherence to lights-out policies.
- Support the center management team in meal supervision, bedtime supervision, and additional welfare duties as needed.
General Responsibilities:
- Ensure the implementation of Ardmore Language School’s Health & Safety policies.
- Uphold appropriate student behavior, safety, and welfare at all times.
- Foster an inclusive and respectful environment, honoring students’ diverse backgrounds, religions, and personal identities.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working in a summer camp, residential school, or similar environment.
- Leadership experience managing activities programs and/or student welfare.
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Enthusiastic, team-oriented mindset with proven ability to motivate staff and students.
- Eligible to live and work in the US.
RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
- Previous management experience in a summer school and/or camp environment.
- First Aid/CPR qualification.
- Lifeguard/Coaching qualification.
COMPENSATION:
- $800 per week, including accommodation and full board, dependent on experience and center size.
