We are recruiting an Inventory Specialist to join our team of health care professionals. As an Inventory Specialist, you will be responsible for performing daily duties necessary for maintaining inventory levels, monitoring pricing, processing returns, and supporting the operations of Ardon Health, an independent specialty pharmacy. This support involves performing pharmacy production duties, such as dispensing and shipping patient medications.

Essential functions and activities:
- Perform all activities under the ultimate supervision, direction, and control of a licensed pharmacist.
- Prioritize patient safety.
- Extract vendor reports and update procurement resources.
- Follow policies and procedures to ensure Ardon complies with all FDA DSCSA requirements.
- Comply with all related policies and procedures, including but not limited to receiving, returns, medication storage, hazardous medication handling, and record retention.
- Accurately receive drugs/supplies into a perpetual inventory system.
- Process 340B orders received and attach invoices for accounting.
- Match packing slips to invoices while keeping track of any outstanding orders.
- Keep storage and receiving locations organized and clean.
- Maintain updated inventory tags and stock location.
- Update items preferred status and item class in the inventory system.
- Perform monthly expiration checks and rotates stock using a combination of FEFO AND FIFO.
- Process returns and damaged goods to vendors while tracking credits and documenting Accounts Payable.
- Monitor inventory for drug recalls and quarantine according to P&P’s.
- Process daily drug/supply orders adhering to company guidelines (budget limitations, preferred vendors and supervisor approvals prior to submission).
- Communicate any drug shortages/backorders/allocations. Makes all efforts to achieve continuous patient care, avoiding preventable stock outages.
- Monitor shortage lists to proactively order medications and/or supplies with minimal disruption to our patients.
- Create action plans and provide alternative options for medications experiencing a critical shortage. Collaborate closely with operations team members to ensure a timely and thorough response to medication backorders and shortages.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reports to identify and resolve any anomalies.
- Monitor the excess inventory to ensure full credits for timely returns.
- Perform weekly cycle counts, quarterly, a complete physical inventory, and document in our perpetual inventory system.
- Collaborate with pharmacists to update and maintain active drug files in inventory system.
- Track non-formulary purchases to determine justification.
- Monitor changing Average Wholesale Prices (AWP), Costs, and preferred vendors to optimize pharmacy reimbursement.
- Participate in pharmacy area and warehouse organization projects as directed.
- Ensure adherence to accreditation standards/objectives.
- Support pharmacy production operations as directed, including accurate printing, dispensing, shipping patient medication orders, and supply maintenance including but not limited to making boxes, creating supply kits, and loading ice. Demonstrates initiative to assist when able.
- All Oregon license Pharmacy Technicians must inform the pharmacy supervisor within one business day (and Oregon Board of Pharmacy within ten days) of any arrests, convictions, suspected or known violations of law, or any other conduct that might affect or has affected license status. Reports to Oregon Board of Pharmacy within fifteen days of any changes to name, residence address, or mailing address, email, phone, or employment.
- Actively participates and provides support as needed to leadership and quality program staff to ensure activities related to the company’s quality management program and quality improvement activities maintain priority focus and are effectively executed. This may include but is not limited to activities that promote objective and systematic measurement, monitoring, and evaluation of services and defined Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs) that may result from such efforts.
- Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be revised from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.
- Complies with the company’s Human Resources policies, Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and all department policies and procedures, including protecting confidential company, employee, and customer information; attending work punctually and regularly; and adhering to good safety practices in all activities.

Position specifications:
- Education and experience
- Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Active Oregon Pharmacy Technician License or Certified Oregon Pharmacy Technician License.
- Preferred:
- Knowledge of pharmacy prescription drug names and manufacturers
- Experience working directly with wholesalers.
- Experience maintaining a perpetual inventory system.
- Experience with analyzing and verifying vendor pricing.
- Able to display knowledge of drug pricing strategies such as Acq Cost, AWP Spread, AWP-, WAC-.
- Knowledge of the procurement lifecycle and professional
- 5 years’ experience in a specialty or retail pharmacy setting

Working conditions:
- Work is performed in a pharmacy environment, with extensive keyboard and computer work. Work also involves frequently moving packaging, boxes, and items from different areas within the warehouse. Packaging supplies weighing 40 pounds are regularly moved from the freezer to workstations.
- Business needs may occasionally require work in excess of 40 hours per week, including work outside of the standard work week.
