JOB SUMMARY : An Editor works semi-independently with team direction in a healthcare marketing agency environment with assigned brandteams to enforce quality control across core editorial functions (editing, fact checking, proofreading, and correction checks)while meeting deadlines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Proofreading : Maintains version control, ensures project file integrity, and verifies that requested changes have been accurately incorporated across rounds of project routing.Copy Editing : Ensures correct spelling, grammatical accuracy, adherence to AMA / brand style, and consistency across brand deliverables.Fact Checking : Verifies data and factual information using provided references, annotations, and general science and math competency.Communication and Collaboration : Works effectively in a team environment to build and foster collaborative atmosphere and ensure goals are being met while maintaining quality control.Brand Stewardship : Develops thorough understanding of assigned accounts and product categories, and accommodates multiple assignments effectively.
EDUCATION : Bachelor’s degree English, communications, journalism, biology, or related field PreferredAdvanced degree in related field may be considered in lieu of required experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS : None required
EXPERIENCE : 1-3 years Editorial experience in healthcare communications or related industry Required1-2 years Advertising agency experience Preferred
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :
- Command of the English language, including strong spelling, writing, punctuation, and grammar skills.
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat, remote meeting video tools, and text comparisonsoftware (preferred).
- Experience with digital documents and routing systems preferred.
- General math competency.
- Familiarity with latest edition of AMA guidelines and Merriam-Webster.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Familiarity with FDA pharmaceutical advertising regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills : Develops positive, professional relationships within the department and across disciplines.
- Strong time management skills : Ability to plan ahead, work efficiently, and prioritize projects effectively to complete allwork in an accurate and timely manner based on team-directed timelines.
