JOB SUMMARY
The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) works as an intermittent employee under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse and the direct day-to-day supervision of the county Caseworker. This position does not have a set regular work schedule, but will work only on an as-needed basis for client assignment. This position provides non-skilled care for program eligible frail elderly and disabled persons (clients) in the clients’ homes while adhering strictly to the client’s plan of care and agency policy. Therefore, the Personal Care Assistant should have ability to show interest, kindness, consideration and care for elderly and disabled citizens.

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Intermittent; Non-Exempt
CONFIDENTIALITY:
Information regarding a client of this agency shall not be released to any source outside of this agency without the signed permission of the client. Furthermore, information will only be released internally on a need-to-know basis. Employee will not discuss client cases outside the office or with anyone not employed by this agency unless they are directly involved with the patient’s case.
Basic Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older; CNA or experience prior will be considered.
- Personal Care Assistant 40-hour training certificate or verifiable personal care work experience of one year minimum in a health care setting within the last 24 months
- Clear Criminal History Check verified by AR Department of Health
- Provide own transportation
- Valid Driver’s License and current auto liability insurance provided to supervisor prior to work assignment and throughout employment with agency
- Ability to read and write
- Ability to complete necessary paperwork
- Ability and willingness to accept supervision by following written and oral instructions
- Ability to lift a minimum 40 pounds during course of assigned work
- Ability to stand, grasp, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, climb and move about freely
