Job Overview:
The Center Assistant assists in the overall operation of Center activities including assistance with office duties, recruitment and enrollment; certification of eligibility; transportation of participants and/or delivery of home bound meals; and assistance with kitchen and/or janitorial duties as necessary. While there is no direct supervision of employees, the Center Assistant will assume day-to-day responsibilities of the Site Manager in his/her absence, as assigned.
Responsibilities:
The Center Assistant may be required to carry out duties in one or more of the following functional areas/roles, as needed and assigned. However, this does not preclude assignment to other duties, as needed.
- Assist with recruitment of participants.
- Assist with the recruitment and training of volunteers.
- Prepare and maintain spreadsheets and reports as requested by Supervisor. Keep required documentation concerning daily activities and services.
- Assist supervisor with daily, weekly and monthly reports. Assist with maintaining participant records.
- Certify and/or recertify client eligibility.
- Visit homebound clients to determine eligibility for carry-out meals and refer clients to other needed services.
- Document ARChoice clients.
- Assist with Center programs and providing Center activities.
- Provide information to program participants.
- Assist with the home delivered meal program. Assist in getting meals ready for delivery. Deliver carry-out meals to the homebound, when assigned or as needed.
- Arrange transportation for clients. Transport clients to and from the center and other facilities, as needed.
- Participate and assist in fundraising activities.
- Maintain center areas, grounds and vehicles in clean condition.
- Assist supervisor by answering telephone, making bank deposits, preparing payroll information, preparing contribution reports and placing grocery orders.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, healthy, organized environment.
- Wash and sterilize serving trays, dishes, silverware and cooking utensils. Clean sinks, equipment, appliances and cooking and serving areas.
- Wrap silverware.
- Wash and hang dish towels and aprons. Serve meals.
- Make copies, file correspondence and other records. Schedule appointments.
- Assist in building positive self-concepts and individual strengths of clients.
- Keep up-to-date and knowledgeable about applicable policies, procedures and regulations of specific programs, as assigned.
- Attend required staff meetings, training, and conferences.
- Perform job duties in an ethical manner Maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other responsibilities and assist in other projects as required.
- Because the job is considered a safety-sensitive position, the employee in this position will be subject to unannounced drug and/or alcohol testing as permitted by law.
- The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
