Description

The ideal candidate will possess a passion for teaching students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. This role involves designing and delivering engaging lessons that promote language proficiency, cultural awareness, and academic success in the classroom environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Screen Home Language Surveys and administer the English Language Proficiency assessment for eligible students.
- Administer state annual English Language Proficiency assessment for regular and special education students.
- Input data into CSDE websites and any student information system used to support students receiving the accommodations and modifications needed to access assessments.
- Plan, organize, and provide instruction that meet state and federal standards aligned to CELP Standards
- Assess students and maintain complete and accurate records of student progress with evidence of student growth.
- Seek the support when concern regarding student progress arises and collaborate with instructional staff to provide language support when appropriate.
- Attend IEP, Section 504, or other related meetings for student assessment and program planning as requested by administrator.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and student confidentiality.
- Establish partnerships with the community as appropriate in support of the academic program.
- Attend any required meetings and professional learning communities within the schools.
- Speak clearly, distinctly and accurately.
- Interacts in a positive and professional manner with students and colleagues
- Participates in assigned trainings and staff development opportunities
- Represents ACES in a positive manner through personal conduct, attendance, and completion of assigned duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Valid Connecticut State Teaching Certificate with TESOL endorsement (111) (required)
Knowledge and experience with special education (preferred, not required)
Knowledge of:
- CELP standards
- Second Language Acquisition and SIOP model
- Common Core Standards
- Technology, particularly with regard to facilitating and supporting instruction and assessment
- Special education, IEPs, 504s (preferred)
Skills in:
- Spanish language proficiency/bilingual (preferred)
- Personal/interpersonal communication skills
- Organization and record-keeping
- Data analysis
Ability to:
- Prepare documents and reports in standardized formats for the purpose of providing written documentation and/or conveying information.
- Develop and deliver lesson plans that utilize a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies, and provide written evidence of preparation upon request of the administrator.
- Maintain positive relationships with colleagues and administrators through collaboration and the sharing of ideas and instructional methods.
Salary : $53,641 - $78,056
