The Bridge at ACES and Hamden REGIONS students found it challenging to succeed in the traditional classroom setting. Our students can create their pathway to educational, social, and career success while working towards a high school diploma. The Bridge at ACES teachers develop educational opportunities for our students to gain knowledge in core academic areas (science, math, reading, writing, and social studies) along with project-based learning, career readiness, life skills, culinary, physical education, health and wellness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, vocational education and community-based projects with goal-driven outcomes. Our students will receive academic, community integration, and social-emotional learning courses along with wrap-around social work and community services to ensure successful transitions back to their communities. We also provide reintegration services for six months after transition back to the local home schools or graduation focusing on academic and community support.
ACES is seeking a dynamic PE / Health teacher committed to social justice and making a positive impact on youth at risk who have experienced difficult circumstances. The teacher will be required to educate students in physical education, health and wellness along with activities of daily living focused on overall choices aligned to the Connecticut State Department of Education Standards. Job responsibilities include developing Physical Education and Health curricula, planning daily lessons, providing high-level rigorous differentiated instruction, and data collection based on student assessments. The PE / Health teacher will also be expected to engage in team planning through professional learning communities.
