ACES at Chase Interdistrict Magnet School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Social Studies Teacher to join our dynamic team as a long-term sub for the remainder of the 2024-25 school year. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering academic growth and social development in middle school students. Responsibilities:
- Curriculum: Implement a comprehensive social studies curriculum aligned with state standards and school objectives. Adapt instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Effective Instruction: Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that promote critical thinking, historical inquiry, and active participation. Differentiate instruction to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
- Assessment and Feedback: Design and administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Classroom Management: Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning. Set clear expectations for behavior and classroom routines. Leverage restorative practices, where appropriate/
- Parent and Community Engagement: Foster open communication with families through regular updates, conferences, and involvement in school events. Engage with the local community to enhance the social studies program.
- Professional Development: Stay current with educational trends, research, and best practices in social studies education. Attend professional development opportunities to continually improve teaching skills.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, department members, and administrators to align curriculum, share resources, and maintain a positive school culture.
Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut 026 History & Social Studies, 712 certification.
- Bachelor's degree in education, social studies, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of social studies content, curriculum development, and instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
