What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Teacher Assistant position at Area Five Agency on Aging & Community Services?
Assists the Teacher/Family Facilitator in planning and executing all component services for Head Start children and families according to the National Head Start Performance Standards and the local component plans. Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) required, Area Five is willing to assist with the cost of obtaining CDA.
Performs any combination of following instructional tasks in classroom to assist teaching staff of the Head Start program by performing the following duties.
Assist the Teacher/Family Facilitator in planning and executing all component services for Head Start children and families according to the National Head Start Performance Standards and the local component plans. Assist in crisis intervention and coordination of social services. Assist in recruitment efforts by referring eligible children to the Teacher/Family Facilitator. Assist parent in learning parenting skills when they volunteer in the Center by modeling appropriate behavior. Assist the teacher in maintaining a safe, healthy learning environment. Assist the teacher in the social and emotional development of children and provide positive guidance and discipline in the classroom. Follow all other reasonable directives of the Head Start Director, Coordinators, Teacher/Family Facilitator and the agency dependent upon need and demonstrated capabilities. Report cases of child abuse and neglect according to policy.
