As a Grant Writer, you will manage all aspects of ASAC’s grant activities, including researching, writing, and coordinating proposals for foundations, corporations, and government agencies. You will collaborate with program staff and the finance department to develop concepts, prepare grants, and ensure compliance with funding requirements. In this role, you will also track grant deadlines, manage reporting obligations, and cultivate relationships with funders. This position offers a flexible work location and can be based at any of our offices in Eastern Iowa.
Key Duties
- Research funding opportunities that align with ASAC’s mission, vision, strategic plan, and programs, staying informed about trends and identifying new opportunities.
- Write and submit grant proposals and renewals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documents, ensuring all guidelines and requirements are met.
- Collaborate with program staff to gather necessary information for proposals, translating program goals and outcomes into compelling narratives.
- Develop accurate and realistic budgets in collaboration with the finance department, ensuring financial aspects align with funder requirements.
- Manage deadlines for applications, submissions, and reporting schedules, ensuring timely submission of all required documents.
- Prepare and submit grant reports ensuring compliance with funder’s guidelines.
- Provide support and guidance to staff in the development of program-specific funding strategies.
- Monitor the progress of funded projects to ensure they meet intended goals and outcomes, reporting on the impact and effectiveness of grant-funded programs.
- Build and maintain relationships with past, current and future grant funders, including foundations, corporations, and government agencies. Attend meetings, webinars, and conferences to stay updated on funding trends and opportunities.
- Maintain detailed records of grant applications, awarded grants, and communications, managing a database of grant opportunities and tracking the status of applications.
- Support fundraising initiatives as needed, such as donor communications, events, or campaigns.
Requirements
We are looking for someone who has:
- A bachelor's degree in English, Communication, Non-Profit Management, or a related field
- 3-5 years of successful grant writing experience who can turn complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives
- Experience with grant management software and CRM systems
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
