Seasonal Cashier
The owners of Area51 fireworks have always had a love of fireworks, family, and celebration. In 2002 they decided to open Area51 Fireworks in Pahrump, Nevada. Area51 Firework is distinctly identified by the green alien character inspired from the Area51 conspiracy; thus, the brand was created. Area51 Fireworks are ramping up for the 2025 firework season (April 26, 2025, to July 4, 2025). Seasonal Cashiers will support operations by managing all sales transactions (cash and credit card) and will report to the Cashier Supervisor.
Target Start Date is on or around April 2, 2025.
Responsibilities of the Seasonal Cashier:
- Greet customers when entering or leaving the establishment and pleasantly deal with customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Manage cash and credit card transactions with customers.
- Scan goods and collect payments and ensure pricing is correct.
- Verify all credit card sales to ensure the proper person is using the proper card.
- Issue change, receipts, and help with exchanges.
- Count money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
- Ensure correct money exchange, checking for counterfeit money and counting the contents of their cash register at the beginning and end of their shift.
- Keep proper receipts of all sales.
- Assist in maintaining store/warehouse materials and supplies, reporting when stocks are low and helping with re-stocking.
- Be cross trained in greeting, stocking, and cleaning and ensure the checkout areas, restrooms and store/warehouse areas are clean, well-stocked, and organized.
- Make sales referrals and introduce new products to customers.
- Resolve customer complaints, help customers, and provide relevant information.
- Bag items carefully and keep checkout areas clean.
Key skills for Seasonal Cashier:
- Basic Math – ability to understand and solve basic math problems, especially within cashier transactions – ability to add, subtract, and figure out percentages.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills – ability to engage/greet customers, present our specials and answer questions the customer may have.
- Product Knowledge – learn minimum basic knowledge about fireworks and be able to share that with customers.
- Physically able to reach, stretch, bend, climb, and walk during work hours.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time during shift at cash register.
- Customer Service – positive attitude and the ability to help customers with their needs, answer questions and resolve basic issues as they arise; ability to work with upset/unhappy customers is a plus.
- Dependability – ability to manage time - arrive on time for shifts, take breaks as scheduled, and count down registers promptly.
- Basic to intermediate computer knowledge and the ability to use store cash registers.
- Point of Sale Systems (POS) – experience with POS systems is preferred.
