What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Partnership Fellow position at Arena Stage Fellowship?
The Community Partnership Fellow will be an essential member of the Community Engagement Partnership Division, and work cross departmentally with the Artistic team and other Arena Stage staff. The Fellow will help develop and produce community engagement programs, events, and initiatives that foster dynamic cultural, civic, and artistic partnerships with local and national organizations and community groups.
Arena Stage will provide the fellow with opportunities to develop skills in the following areas:
- Community Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to engage diverse community groups, ensuring events and activations are accessible and inclusive. Help promote events and activations to attract community participation.
- Producing and Event Coordination: Support the planning and execution of community activations, such as show specific and offsite events, pre- and post-show discussions, audience enrichment, lobby displays, and the annual Community Day. This includes coordinating logistics, managing timelines, meetings with community partners, and working with various internal departments to ensure smooth execution.
- Collaborate with the Artistic Team: Work closely with the Artistic Team to understand the themes, narratives, and goals of each production in the season. Use this insight to inform events and activation planning, ensuring they align with the themes of the plays. Also assist with season planning and artistic programming ideation.
- Research and Outreach: Identify and research potential community partners that align with the organization's mission. Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, schools, and businesses for collaboration opportunities.
- Pre- and Post-Show Discussions: Lead and facilitate pre- and post-show discussions to deepen audience engagement with the themes of the plays. Collaborate with guest speakers, artists, and experts to curate enriching conversations for our audiences.
- Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support for the Community Partnerships team, including tracking event progress, managing budgets, preparing reports, and assisting with communication efforts.
Additional expectations: Occasionally, some evening and weekend hours will be required.
The ideal candidate for the Community Partnership Fellow position will have a strong interest in theater, arts administration, and community engagement, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills that enable them to build relationships with various stakeholders. They should be organized, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously. Experience with event planning or community outreach is a plus but not required. They should also be able to think creatively and strategically about how to connect a theater's mission and themes to the community. Above all, they should have a passion for fostering inclusive and meaningful connections between the theater and its audience.
