BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of Principal and/or Designee provide various support service to Bilingual students with IEP’s including assisting in providing instruction to individual or small groups of learning emotionally, mentally and physically handicapped children in a variety of special education programs; monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; perform a variety of clerical duties as assigned.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Tutor individual or small groups of students with learning disabilities, reinforcing instruction as directed by the special education teacher; monitor student drills, practices and related activities.
Assemble and prepare lessons, instructional materials and homework for individual students as directed by the teacher; maintain daily records of achievement and attendance.
Assist students with fine motor abilities; assist with strength, hand and muscle coordination and eye and hand coordination.
Observe and control behavior of students according to approved procedures; report progress regarding student performance and behavior.
Perform a variety of clerical duties such as making telephone calls, preparing, and duplicating instructional materials; assist in record-keeping activities including lunch count, attendance and others.
Provide support to the teacher by setting up work areas, displays and exhibits, operating audio visual equipment, operating instructional equipment and distributing and collecting paper and supplies.
May assist students in toileting; change dirty clothes and soiled diapers; assist with general hygiene and feeding methods and activities.
Confer with teachers concerning programs and materials to meet individual student needs; assist children with achieving the goals of indiv The Arena Union Elementary School’s goals are to;
