Applications are being accepted for a part-time Animal Control Assistant with Arenac
County.
General Statement of Duties
Under the general direction of the County Animal Control Director this position is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day care and cleaning of animals and kennel maintenance, adoption of animals and customer service. Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.
Qualifications/Skills Required:
- Preferred one year experience in receptionist, shelter, volunteer work with animals, or kennel setting.
- High School Diploma
- Answering Phones/Making Appointments
- Cleaning Kennels
- Valid Michigan Driver’s License
- Animal Care and handling
- Clear and concise acquisition reports
- Comply with all local, state, and federal laws and requirements
- General Cleaning
- Taking payments for services
- Proper enforcement of animal licensing requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
- Strong and effective public relations dealing with customer service and adoption processes
- Strong computer knowledge
- Ability to handle stress and remain calm in emergency situations
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Willing to work weekends and irregular hours
- Assist with fund raisers

Veterinary Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
