Description

Under the Base Telecommunications System (BTS) contract at Los Angeles Air Force Base, the Telecommunications Mechanic is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications systems, including fiber optic, copper, and telephony systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair tasks for telecommunications systems.
  • Adhere to industry standards, including TIA/EIA and BICSI, and utilize OEM manuals to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Follow safety procedures related to confined spaces, cable splicing, and the use of power tools.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of government contracting environments, specifically DoD and AF directives.
  • Maintain accurate work center records in compliance with contract requirements.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., TIA/EIA, BICSI), OEM manuals, and safety procedures related to confined spaces, cable splicing, and power tools.
  • Relevant experience in telecommunications systems is essential.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Capability to work in diverse indoor and outdoor conditions.
  • Must obtain and maintain all necessary base access privileges and security clearances as stipulated by the contract.
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; additional technical training or certifications (e.g., fiber splicing, BICSI Technician) are preferred.

Salary Description

$62 - $95K
