Job Description
The Corporate Finance team is seeking a Senior Associate to participate in a strategic initiative to develop, implement, and manage an operating plan for the Ares Employee Co-Investment Program (the “Employee Co-Invest Program”). The Employee Co-Invest Program facilitates the investment by Ares employees in Ares managed funds. The individual will have day-to-day operational ownership for numerous funds including, but not limited to, investor onboarding and relationship management, operations, reporting and servicing, and fund accounting responsibilities.
The role requires an individual who is a strategic thinker and able to collaborate with various cross-functional teams to understand the challenges and needs of stakeholders. This role will also be responsible for managing and continuously improving the data, reporting/insights, technology, and processes needed to deliver a seamless investor experience to our internal investors. Ideally, the candidate will have experience with investment accounting and/or investor portal implementations.

Primary functions and essential responsibilities
- Assist in the coordination of new co-invest funds launch, including understanding fund structure and jurisdictions, coordination with various internal/external parties, review of draft legal documentation for reporting requirements, assisting in the setup of lines of credit, and overall investors and fund onboarding processes
- Must be a player-coach and effectively manage relationships with internal resources (both US and Mumbai based) and external providers i.e.: fund administrator(s)
- Contribute effectively to the innovation efforts for the structuring and implementation of a streamlined and centralized investor operations solutions
- Assist in coordinating and overseeing project plans, milestones, and updates to executive management
- Coordinate with third party banking/lender relationships and internal and external auditors to meet all monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting deadlines
- Manage debt facilities and review compliance reporting, as applicable
- Develop and oversee quarterly reporting deliverables and process in partnership with fund administrator(s)
- Participate in the review quarterly NAV reconciliations with fund administrator(s)
- Participate in the review quarterly and annual GAAP financial statements and footnote disclosures
- Responsible for ad-hoc limited partner, analyst, and investment team requests
- Train, mentor, and integrate the LA & Mumbai teams
- Supervises: Mumbai based team members of 1-3 individuals
Qualifications
Education:
- BS/BA with major in Accounting, Economics or Finance, with outstanding academic record
- CPA, preferred
Experience Required:
- 6 years of relevant work experience
- Public accounting experience (Big 4 preferred)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high growth environment
- Ability to assist in managing several third-party relationships
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
- Strong verbal and written skills; ability to analyze and summarize complex information both verbally and in writing
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to multi-task and manage various deadlines
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Investran, eFront, or other accounting software experience, a plus
- Sungard Dx, Intralinks, or similar investor portal implementation experience, a plus

- Proven experience of collaborating with teams in remote locations to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and high level of supervisory oversight
- Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word (e.g.: complex formulas, macros)
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau or other business intelligence tools, a plus

Reporting Relationships

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.
$135,000 - $155,000
