We are seeking an early to mid-career Data Scientist with a strong Physics/Math/Computer Science/Data Science background to work in the areas of machine learning, signal/image processing and detection, computer vision, physics-based modeling, and data analysis. This position is based in our Falls Church, VA office. This is a full-time, exempt position with no supervisory duties and the possibility of partial remote work, depending on task requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop physics-based software and algorithms for advanced data analysis.
• Transform complex multi-dimensional datasets into actionable insights.
• Implement machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to analyze novel datasets.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Contribute to high-impact projects in sensor design and analysis, including phenomenology exploitation.
• Develop and refine detection, estimation, and tracking algorithms.
• Work on target classification and identification solutions.
• Apply advanced signal processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence algorithms to cutting-edge challenges.

Experiences and Background We Look For:

• A degree in physics, mathematics, computer science, or data science
• Proficiency in Python
• Experience with signal/image processing (detection, estimation, and/or tracking)
• Experience with training both feature-based and deep neural network algorithms for classification and regression on vast datasets
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate on small teams

Nice to Have:

• Remote sensing experience in Electro-Optics, Synthetic Aperture RADAR (SAR), LIDAR, or sonar
• Computer vision, image and data fusion, image classification and automated target recognition
• GPU programming
• Intellectual curiosity and a desire for continuous learning
• Physics-based modeling and simulation
• Current SSBI and TS/SCI eligible

The salary range for this role is $110,000 to $122,000; however, Arete considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to: the position and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.

Other Requirements

U.S. citizenship is required to meet position eligibility.

Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
