Arete ExpandED High School Teacher - Credit Bearing Course
(Fall 2024 Semester)
Job Summary
Areté Education is pleased to solicit applications for teachers to provide students with additional credit bearing opportunities to support 100 students in grades 9-12 with credit accumulation in key subject areas. Please consider proposing engaging, real world course projects and learning extensions that will allow students to expand their horizons while aligning these topics to NYS learning standards. Every course will be able to nominate up to 3 students for paying internships beginning Spring 2025 based on course performance and successful completion of real-world projects during the course.
Selection Criteria

Regularly appointed licensed teacher with active NYSED certification

Demonstrated evidence of effective learning strategies and ability to design real-world applications

Demonstrated evidence of positive outcomes on student achievement with diverse populations of students.

Evidence of excellent attendance and ability to teach in a blended model
-
Engaging, standards based curriculum proposal that uses backwards design and is aligned to NYS Standards.

Ability to teach English, Art, Economics, Spanish, or Health courses
Duties & Responsibilities

Implement and assume responsibility for all instructional activities as assigned by school supervisors in collaboration with Areté beyond assigned teaching session

Provide and develop curriculum map, unit plans, lesson plans, and assessments aligned to appropriate NYS Standards and anchored in real-world applications

Prepare statistical, attendance, and assessment reports as required within program timelines.

Maintain accurate records and communicate with families as needed.

Communicate needs and interests with Principal and Areté Staff.

Attend Areté HR Orientation, Arete Forums, Monthly Credit Bearing Course Team Meetings, and engage in Coaching with Arete Staff
Ability to work at MS/HS 223 School Site
Education & Experience
-
Licensed Teacher in New York State
-
At least three years experience working as an educator or youth worker

Mandated Reporter and Foundations in Health and Safety online trainings required (7-hours)

Department of Health and Department of Education background clearance
-
Bachelor’s Degree, Masters’ Degree preferred

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one’s tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to support program activities
