What are the responsibilities and job description for the IRA/Custody Operations Manager position at Argent Institutional Trust Company (formerly TMI Trust)?
GENERAL FUNCTION: Responsible for overseeing the daily functions of the IRA and Custody business. This includes delivering superior customer service to all clients, broker/dealers, and third parties nationwide and ensuring accurate and timely processing in accordance with service standards.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop strong relationships with all stakeholders (clients, brokers, advisors, administrators and executives)
· Provide leadership and support culture of collaboration, productivity, accountability and service excellence
· Responsible for hiring, developing and retaining talent though coaching, training and mentoring
· Stay abreast of regulatory changes related to IRA’s and ensure that all forms and disclosures are properly maintained
· Oversee all aspects of processing including, but not limited to, account opening/closing, account reviews, fees, trades, distributions, sweep, contributions, transfers, income, withholding, corporate actions, vault, conversions/recharacterizations, excess contribution removals, tax reporting and escheatment of abandoned property
· Ensure department procedures and process flows are created and maintained
· Review and approve transactions, workflow tickets, and wires related to accounts on custody recordkeeping systems
· Participate in complex problem solving and recommending/implementing solutions that improve efficiency and mitigate risk
· Participate in new business review and integration
· Coordinate internal audit requests, documentation and response
· Ensure all cash and position exceptions are tracked and resolved in a timely manner
· Oversee quality of daily processing through periodic reviews, queries, and self-audits to ensure transactions are accurate, authorized and timely
· Oversee mailing of various notices related to statements, disclosures, RMD’s, etc.
· Oversee investor services team and reporting of call and email statistics
· Handle administrative duties related to payroll, preparation/delivery of employee evaluations, reporting of volumes, earnings, fee receivables, project status, etc.
· Perform other assignments as requested by Director
MAJOR SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· BS/BBA or equivalent experience
· Knowledge of IRAs, transfer agent and IRS regulations
· Knowledge of securities processing and custody
· Exceptional operations management skills
· Excellent organizational and time management skills
· Ability to work under pressure and adjust to volatile work schedule in high paced environment
· Excellent verbal/written communication skills
· Good problem-solving and recon skills
· Must be detail oriented and possess a high level of accuracy
