Argenta is currently looking to fill the role Microbiologist II at our Shawnee Location

Responsibilities

1. Perform testing of raw material, in-process, and finished product samples according to approved procedures.  
2. Perform Environmental monitoring of the manufacturing and laboratory facilities including cleanroom environments, personnel, water systems, compressed gases, and laminar flow hoods.  
3. Identify microbial isolates using manual or automated techniques per written procedures in a period that supports customer requirements.  
4. Prepare media, solutions, materials, and equipment to support sampling and testing.  
5. Perform growth promotion and quality testing on media used for microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, and sterility in the Microbiology QC Department.  
6. Maintain the record storage systems ensuring quick and reliable data retrieval.  
7. Provide support to laboratory projects and assist other team members as needed.  
8. Adhere to the pertinent aspects of compliance and plant safety programs.  
9. Critical understanding of proper and thorough laboratory investigations.  
10. Support QA (Quality Assurance) Operations laboratory investigations. 
11. Continuous improvement and assessment of laboratory practices to eliminate over-processing of data 
12. Adhere to GMP and/or GLP standards as required for daily operations. 
13. Safety first in the laboratories. 

Requirements

1. BA / BS in a related scientific field such as biology, chemistry, microbiology, or biochemistry.  
2. 3 years laboratory experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory. 
3. Demonstrated background for the understanding, planning, and execution of laboratory Standard Operating Procedures relating to instrument use, sample analysis, document generation and control, personal safety, and environmental safety.  
4. Knowledge of FDA regulations (or similar regulated environment) to include Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).  
5. Basic computer skills.  
6. Pass a DEA background check. 
7. Effective written and verbal communication skills.  
8. Mastered skills in the use of a wide range of microbiology test methods and instrumentation, including the following:  
9. Bioburden testing  
10. Endotoxin testing  
11. Sterility testing (preferred)  
12. Aseptic technique  
13. Water quality sampling and testing
