What are the responsibilities and job description for the Benefits Analyst position at Argo Group?
Reporting to the Head of Benefits and Payroll, the Benefits Analyst will be responsible for leading and assisting in the management of benefit administration and reporting of BP&C Shared Services benefits and retirement programs. We will rely on you to leverage your experience to exercise independent judgment and discretion and work with in-country stakeholders from HR, finance, and business leadership to develop, administer and communicate company benefits.
Key Responsibilities
Communications:
- Develop and administer communications to management and employees concerning details of benefit programs.
- Respond to employee inquiries concerning all aspects of benefits based on a strong understanding of benefit plans and employee options regarding such plans or programs.
- Assist in the reasonable accommodation process, including developing and implementing suitable accommodations based on company policy and the law (in collaboration with the Legal Department).
- Maintain benefit plan documents and employee communications. Ensure benefit documents are up to date on company internal site.
Compliance:
- Assist in ensuring the company complies with required filings and that such filings are timely, including Form 5500, Summary Plan Descriptions, Summary of Benefits Coverage, ACA reporting, etc. Collaborate with other departments in the filing of these documents. Ensure employee-facing legal documents are posted timely.
Data:
- Maintain employee data in our HRIS benefit system administration (Workday).
- Manage, audit, and analyze data files for third party benefit administrators for all welfare benefit plans, COBRA, and 401k (Workday Integrations).
- Analyze benefits and compensation data from a wide range of sources to aide in selection of benefits and the delivery of the same. This includes reviewing and assessing vendor performance in the delivery of these benefit programs.
- Conduct periodic audits to ensure integrity of retirement elections/deferrals/loans, benefit elections/enrollments, and payroll deductions in Workday.
- Provides management planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing employee benefit data and trends.
Invoicing:
- Track invoice and claims costs, ensure bills are reconciled and billed correctly and in accordance with contractual terms and obligations, paid timely, and coded correctly.
Wellness:
- Coordinate [and assist in the development] of wellness initiatives with our Wellness Program vendor.
- Explore new strategies and leverage existing vendor relationships.
- Provide support for Open Enrollment
- Maintain compliant Leave of Absence processes and procedures, including communications, cross-functional interactions, employee support, and system maintenance. Periodically review this information to identify any areas for improvement.
Policy/Reporting:
- Interpret policies and procedures to address employee questions.
- Review and identify benefits-related policies in all employee handbooks that require updating and partner with Legal to update.
- Manage documentation of internal process and administration in coordination with internal/external audits.
- Analyze and report benefit plan data to management.
- Identify and implement process improvements.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university or equivalent relevant experience required.
- 1 – 3 years of experience in a Benefit Processes and retirement planning strongly preferred.
- Fluent in applicable laws and regulations surrounding benefits, leaves of absence.
- HRIS systems (Workday preferred), moderate to advanced Excel.
- Must stay up to date on industry trends and changes to help keep the company competitive in recruitment of top management and employees.
